Welcome to Mark Day School!
As you search for the school that will be the right match for your child and family, I invite you to learn more about our special community. I hope you will visit our campus so you can see firsthand what makes our school such an exciting place to learn and grow.
At Mark Day School, we strive to discover and nurture what is finest in each child in a vibrant, inclusive, nonreligious learning community. Innovative and full of heart, our faculty aims to develop well-rounded critical thinkers in a challenging program that fosters academic excellence and responsible world citizenship. Diversity is central to our school mission, and core to our values. Every aspect of the school community is guided by the Seven Pillars of Character: caring, courage, citizenship, respect, responsibility, honesty, and fairness. We embrace a partnership with parents, which is vital to the success of each child.
Our school is located in the Terra Linda neighborhood of San Rafael. We enroll 380 students in kindergarten through eighth grade who come from all neighborhoods of Marin and beyond. Bus service from Southern Marin, with stops in Mill Valley and Larkspur, is offered in the morning and afternoon.
The curriculum at our school is broad, rich, and deep. Ask about our global partnerships with schools in Beijing and South Africa. Learn about our one-to-one laptop program for sixth, seventh, and eighth graders and our one-to-one iPad program in 3rd grade. Talk to our students about their Media Literacy projects. See how our social-emotional learning program is woven through the curriculum at every level. Explore our school garden and learn about how sustainability initiatives permeate the school.
As you think about the right school for your family, visit us and see our community in action. A typical visit includes a greeting from Head of School Joe Harvey, a tour of the campus, classroom visits and an overview of the admission process. Meet with students, parents, faculty, and administrators—they are our best ambassadors!
Throughout your admissions journey, I hope you will contact me with questions. I look forward to meeting you.
