Nominations Open for President of Parents' Association

Make your voice heart in our upcoming election! Mark Day School is looking for a parent to serve as leader of the Parents' Association. The President leads the PA in community and fundraising efforts. He/She will work in conjunction with a PA executive board and sit on the Board of Trustees. The PA Presidency is a two-year commitment beginning July 1, 2017 and ending on June 30, 2019. In partnership with a group of experienced campus leaders who have volunteered to be on the nominating committee, current PA President Stephanie Parker has begun the process of identifying candidates. The nominating committee is compromised of Lori Butler, June Mee Kim, Dana Oliver, and Terry Powers. Contact Stephanie Parker, any member of the nominating committee, or pavolunteers@markdayschool.org to nominate a candidate for President or ask questions. Nominations for President are open through Wednesday, January 4, 2017. Thanks for your involvement in this important process!

Sign Up for Friday Treats!

Each year, the 8th grade raises funds to support local and global charities and give a class gift to the school. Friday Treats is a snack club for 4-8th graders. For $20, members can enjoy a unique treat each month. Students will be able to enjoy delicious goodies, all while supporting two great charities and the school. A membership of $20 gets your child monthly treats, starting with peppermint bark on Friday, December 9 at lunch. There will be treats until June! Simply drop off $20 in check or cash and this registration form to the front office. Thank you for supporting the 8th grade fund!

At Mark Day School, we strongly believe that every student should be encouraged to participate in school community activities. Our tuition assistance policy includes coverage or this membership. Please contact Sue Hickey with requests or questions.

Mark Day School's Holiday Giving Program 2016

As in the past, grades 4, 5, 7, and 8 will provide gifts and food gift cards for families from Adopt a Family of Marin. The 6th grade will organize a school-wide toy drive for Ritter Center. In order to support the families and toy drive, the Middle and Upper Divisions will hold various fundraisers. In the Lower Division, students make holiday decorations, cookies, and cards for the adopted families.

How can you help? Please support your child's efforts in this program. If you want to help beyond what is happening in your child's class, please donate a new toy or gift card (Target, Old Navy, Gap, iTunes) to the toy drive or donate Safeway cards. Envelopes for both agencies will be in the front office. Please indicate the value of each card, and this will help us in distributing the cards evenly. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to the Chairs of the Holiday Giving Program (Fabiana Duque-Ribeiro, Mary Gorski, or Amy McConnell). Thanks in advance for your generosity. Together, we can ensure that local families have a happy holiday season.

Thanks to everyone who attended, worked behind the scenes, and performed in "A Midsummer Night's Dream." It was a great production!

The first Bizjack Project is due next week. Students in grades 3-8 can bring projects to the Library Annex any morning next week (Nov. 28 – Dec. 2) for credit, and check out the display in the Middle Division hallway. Holiday Movie Night: Kung Fu Panda - December 2

One of our school's annual fundraising events for our holiday-time efforts supporting Adopt-A-Family is upon us...Holiday Movie Night! This 7th and 8th grade mentor-group-hosted, K-8, student-focused event, being held on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, from 5:00PM-7:30PM in the school's gym, promises to be a fun-filled evening full of movie-watching ("Kung Fu Panda"), eating (pizza, popcorn, brownie bites, and drinks), and overall good times! Gym mats will be laid out across the gym floor and students are more than welcome to come in their pajamas, if they would like! The event fee is $20 per person, which can be paid either in advance (to Sue Crowther in the school's front office) or right at the door on the night of the event! Please come to Movie Night to have a wonderful time and to support our Adopt-A-Family efforts! In order for the event organizers to obtain an approximate headcount, if possible, please indicate here if your child or children will be participating in this event. Thanks!

At Mark Day School, we strongly believe that every student should be encouraged to participate in school community activities. Our tuition assistance policy includes coverage for this event. Please contact our Director of Tuition Assistance, Sue Hickey, with requests or questions.
