What is My Child Learning Today--and Why?

Have you ever wondered why your kids are (or are not) learning a particular lesson in class? What do worms, toothpick bridges, visits to local senior centers, or hours spent pulling invasive plants have to do with their chances of success in high school, college, and beyond?

On Friday, March 3, Bonnie Nishihara, assistant head for educational design and innovation, will pull back the curtain on recent developments in the Mark Day School curriculum. Bonnie will provide an engaging update on the Mark Day School Strategic Plan: Teaching and Learning for the Current Century (see pages 7 through 11).

Come hear how the strategic, multi-year self-evaluation of the Mark Day curriculum is impacting faculty development, student assessment, what your kids learn and what outcomes these lessons provide. It is likely these are the important lessons that will materially impact who they become and what they do. Hosted by the Parents Association. It is free, please RSVP so we can set enough chairs.

The Well-Balanced Student: A Presentation for K-12 Parents

Learn research-based strategies for raising healthy children in today's fast-paced world. When we are too focused on grades and performance, we deny our children the time and energy they need to tackle the demanding work of growing up. In this presentation, you'll learn how you can establish a healthier home environment, reduce academic stress without sacrificing achievement, and increase your children's resilience, creativity, and well-being. Click here for more info.
