Becky Mejia, Intern Teacher for Cathy Sedlock
Becky recently finished a credential program and has worked in a number of local schools and organizations, including Next Generation Scholars. She comes to us most recently from Zimmerman Elementary in San Bernadino, where she completed her student teaching. Fun fact: she enjoys making her own clothes.
Alex Dobbs, Support Teacher for Yolanda Ferguson
Alex is currently in a credential program and will receive her credential in December of this year. She has a great deal of experience working with kids, including her most recent job at Miss Sandie's School. Fun fact: she recently got married and celebrated with her husband in Hawaii.
Beth Michaelson, Support Teacher for Geneva Conway
Beth worked for many years in the UCLA Admission Office. She has volunteered at several local organizations, including work as an ESL teacher. For the past two years, she has been a wonderful substitute in the Lower School at Mark Day. Fun fact: she dabbles in calligraphy outside of school.
Diana Gill, Support Teacher for Lisa Becker
Diana has worked at a number of local schools doing one-on-one student support and student intervention. She comes to us most recently from Vallecito Children's Center. Fun fact: she has a background as a pastry chef.
Helen Kennedy-Cheong, Support Teacher for Julia Huo-Kuramoto
Helen grew up in Sleepy Hollow and has worked in several classrooms in local schools, including Brookside Elementary, Fairfax Children's Center, and San Domenico. Fun fact: she is the wife of AJ Cheong and their son just celebrated his second birthday.
Karen Woodall, K-4 Learning Specialist
Karen has over 20 years of experience teaching and working as a reading specialist. She is a certified Reading Recovery Teacher, and comes to us most recently from Marin Horizon, where she taught first grade. Fun fact: she is originally from Australia and just got back from a summer trip down under.
Ernesto Garcia, PE Support Teacher (Grades 5-8)
Ernesto is a Mark Day alum from the class of 2008. He earned a BS in Health and Exercise Sciences from Skidmore College, and has taught locally through Aim High, Next Generation Scholars and the Bell Program.
Jordan Young, 5th Grade Support Teacher for Deb Pannell and Lacy Zehner
Jordan has been with us for many years, holding many roles. This year, she will take on a new role as 5th grade support teacher. An alum from the class of 2002, Jordan's adaptability, adept skill with children of all ages and commitment to the community are huge assets to all of us.
