| | Blacktop Parking Reminder
If you are staying for a morning meeting or event on campus after 8:40am, or past 9:00am on assembly days, please park in the front or on a neighborhood street (not Trellis) so that P.E. classes can use the blacktop. Please observe these three guidelines:
1) Drop off in the front 2) Short-term parking is in the back (staying until 8:40am or for assembly on Tuesdays and Fridays). P.E. needs the blacktop afterward. 3) All other parking in the front lot or the neighborhood (not Trellis) if staying longer.

| | Come to the Open Garden - October 3
Have you been in the garden this Fall? It's an amazing riot of life! Each month the Garden Council hosts an Open Garden event when our community is invited to enjoy the tranquility and bounty of the Organic Garden. Spend an afternoon in the garden on Monday, October 3 from 2:30-4:00pm with our own Tinker-in-Residence and Gardener Extraordinaire, David St. Martin as he sends kids and their families on a scavenger hunt tour of our magical garden. Enjoy light garden snacks and a fun kid craft. This free event is open to all Mark Day students and families.

Mark Day Made is an event where parents lead workshops for children to create beautiful and unique gifts. It's not too late to volunteer! Join us for the next meeting on Tuesday, October 4th after assembly, outside the front office. This is not a high impact volunteering and being crafty is not a requirement.

| | Banned Books Week
This week is Banned Books Week, which celebrates intellectual freedom. Everyone should have the freedom to read and think about lives, issues, and perspectives different from their own, but sometimes books are banned or challenged by well-meaning adults who want to protect kids from content they find inappropriate or offensive. This week's library classes will feature banned or challenged books along with age-appropriate discussion. I encourage you to keep the discussion going at home as well. Additionally, students in grades 3-8 are invited to visit the Library Annex on Wednesday (today) and choose a "mystery book," wrapped in brown paper and identified only by the reason it was challenged. You might be surprised about some of these!
