Dear 7th and 8th grade families,
Due to the uncertain nature of the novel Coronavirus, COVID-19, we are canceling community engagement day scheduled for Thursday, March 19. At this time, it is uncertain what our community and surrounding communities might need in the near future as more cases of COVID-19 arise.
This decision is not intended to add to the concern of the spread of COVID-19 nor to pull back from our local partners; rather, it arises from our desire to be responsible partners. We may, on short notice, be restricted from interacting together. In order to be good partners to local agencies that depend on volunteers, we want to give them ample time to find replacement volunteers, and canceling at the last minute would put them in an unfortunate position.
Because logistical coverage in the Upper Division makes it difficult to have some students on campus and some off-campus, March 19 will be a normal school day for all 7th and 8th graders. We are hoping to reschedule community engagement day since it's an important part of students' education.
Sincerely,
Fernanda Pernambuco
Director of Cross-Cultural Partnerships & Community Engagement
