3rd Grade Physical Education
P.E. in grades 2 and 3 build on the skills they developed in earlier grades and continue to develop good habits around physical activity, particularly in preparation for the Grade 4-8 P.E. program. They begin every class with a longer run and basic stretches. Games are introduced with slightly more competitiveness, and students learn how to both win and lose with good sportsmanship. In grades 2 and 3, students are more regularly applying their individual skills in the context of games and sports. Activities are also varied to allow students with different skills to shine. They discuss how moving our bodies helps us concentrate better in school and the more you practice, the easier an activity will be. At the end of every class, students have the opportunity to give “shout–outs” to their peers for good sportsmanship, skill building, and collaboration.
