closing day gift presentation
There are several opportunities at the Closing Day assembly for students to present gifts on behalf of the graduation class. In some cases, two students are asked to work together on one gift presentation. Selection of the names is made from the pool of all applicants in mid-May. The applications at the bottom of this page.
Book for Kindergarten Classrooms
Mr. Harvey will call one or two students from each of the original kindergarten classes to present a book to each kindergarten classroom in honor of their first teachers. The books are purchased with school funds by the graduation coordinator.
Class gift to the Local Community
Mr. Harvey will call to the podium one or two students to present the class gift to the local community. The decision regarding the recipient and the donation is usually made by the class in the spring.
Class Gift to the Global Community
Mr. Harvey will call to the podium one or two students to present the class gift to the global community. The decision regarding the recipient and the donation is usually made by the class in the spring.
Class Gift to the School
Mr. Harvey will call to the podium one or two students to present the class gift to Mark Day School. The decision regarding what this gift will be is usually made by the class in the spring.
Applications and Presentation Speeches
Any student may apply to present one of these gifts by using the application form at the bottom of this page. If your name is selected, you will be notified by Ms. Gordon and your responsibility will then be to write a brief presentation speech:
- Ms. Gordon will have a notebook with examples of presentation speeches from past years. Write your speech. Take a draft of your words to Ms. Gordon for proofreading.
- Ms. Danforth will be available to help you with your delivery.
